Risk management in partnership

Understanding the critical importance of risk management, we work in close partnership with referring agencies to ensure each journey is not only safe but also successful.

Customised and flexible

We provide customised and flexible services, meticulously designed to address the unique needs of each child involved. Our tailored approach ensures that every journey is managed with the utmost care and attention, catering specifically to the individual requirements of those we support.

Any journey, including out of hours

We offer a wide range of journey options, whether they are long, short, or anything in between. Given our extensive experience in the residential and secure care sector, we understand that an out-of-hours service may be necessary. For a quicker response, please use the provided phone number.

Staffing

A 3:1 professional ratio

Our professional approach involves providing support to individuals with a 3:1 ratio. This means two staff members will assist the individual while one manages the vehicle.

If we determine that the safety of individuals is at risk, ScotSafe will discuss the need for additional staff support with the referring agency.

Our approach

De-escalation, not restraint

  • Our approach is trauma based, early intervention and de-escalation.
  • Physical restraint is our last resort.
  • Age-appropriate care for scheduled and unscheduled appointments, maintaining dignity throughout.
  • Working alongside The Promise so children feel safe and respected, even whilst in transit.

Common questions

What referrers usually ask us.

How quickly can you take a journey?

Call us and we will tell you honestly. We offer an out-of-hours service because we know placements do not break down conveniently between nine and five. For anything urgent, always phone rather than using the form.

What does the 3:1 ratio actually mean?

Three members of staff to one young person. Two staff support the young person directly while the third manages the vehicle. If we determine that safety is at risk, we discuss the need for additional staff support with the referring agency before the journey.

Do you restrain young people?

Our approach is trauma based, early intervention and de-escalation. Physical restraint is our last resort.

Do you take journeys to and from England?

Yes. Cross-border journeys between Scotland and England are part of our normal service, in both directions.

What information do you need from us?

The booking form covers it: the young person's needs, communication preferences, legal status, local authority, journey details, and any risks with detail. Attach the risk assessment and letter of appointment if you have them. If it is easier, phone and we will take it all verbally.

What vehicle do you use?

A 7-seater Discovery Sport equipped with tinted windows, so young people travel to their destination in comfort and with dignity.
