Throughout my entire professional career, I have dedicated myself to working with vulnerable children. This experience has provided me with the essential knowledge to ensure that the children, whom we all have a duty to protect, are always treated with dignity and respect.
For the past eight years, I have directly supported children in residential care. As a care manager for a residential school, I managed multiple children's residential homes. In this role, I have collaborated closely with care inspectors and local authorities to consistently ensure the highest standards of care for children. The sector-leading grades I received reflect the high-quality care delivered by my teams.
Recently, I have taken on a management position within secure care. The knowledge and experience I have gained in this role have deepened my understanding of those whose liberty has been restricted, whether this has been through risk to themselves or if this has been via risk from another. The Care and Justice Bill, which came into effect in September 2024, has also broadened my understanding and awareness of children involved in the youth justice systems.
Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of children, each presenting different levels of risk. This extensive and diverse experience has greatly enriched my knowledge, allowing me to enhance the quality of care I provide. By understanding the unique challenges and needs of each individual, I believe I can provide safe and compassionate care to all children under my responsibility.
